Sustainable Livelihoods Co-Investment Initiative

RACIproject: Sustainable Solutions For Ocean Conservation

RACI:Indonesia’s multi-faceted livelihoods initiative has been designed with the input of local community leaders to expand existing livelihoods, sustainable, agricultural food security and educational options for BNMP’s residents. The Bunaken Artisan Village program will provide alternative, ethical employment opportunities within the existing tourist industry, while the Youth Camp program will work alongside the local education system to empower youth and develop their capacity in charting the course of BNMP’s future. Hydroponics technology will be introduced to enhance livelihoods and sustainable agricultural food security options, providing avenues for cultivating profitable and marketable agricultural produce; an impossibility up to now due to environmental conditions. These integrated programs have self-financing mechanisms intended to transition RACI:Indonesia into financial self-sufficiency within 3 years.
