INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

STUDY OF COMMUNITY-BASED SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN BALI, INDONESIA

DURATION: 2-6 WEEKS

The Bali internship program is designed to simulate the real world career experience of a sustainable development practitioner on assignment. No paper stapling here; the project provides an opportunity for you to get involved and meet the challenges of community projects firsthand, at a grassroots level. Project will be facilitated by partners in RACI’s network.

We specialize in community-based projects that address critical needs in the sustainable development process from the ground up with a focus on these core themes:

Sustainable Livelihoods
RACI’s involvement in Indonesia is wholeheartedly defined by community action. Positive change occurs even when one individual decides to make a difference

Youth Empowerment
There are a handful of ongoing youth initiatives we participate in. Our interns have served as counselors facilitating youth camps, developed curriculum for elementary school students, and implemented youth environmental education initiatives in marine studies

Cultural Heritage Preservation
The preservation of cultural heritage can have a great impact on a community. RACI interns immerse themselves in local cultural customs to preserve and showcase cultural heritage preservation, which leads to a platform for cultural and ecotourism, resulting in the production of a good or a service, thus providing an alternative livelihood income for families

Operations Management
Interns will gain hands on experience in the field of sustainable development by completing projects for grassroots non-profit organizations throughout Bali. Interns will experience business functioning of marketing, communications, accounting, operations management, and logistics coordination

Natural Resource Management
Oriented towards an understanding of the relationship between natural resources and anthropogenic influences, interns gain knowledge in management best-practices, tools and techniques of operating conservation areas

Social Entrepreneurship
Works with micro-entrepeneurs in local communities while discovering new strategies and approaches for their business

On July 22, 2011 RACI hosted a fundraiser to help sponsor a group of women in learning traditional weaving practices in Sudaji, North Bali.
