How do I apply for the internship programs?
To apply please send your CV, a short expression of interest and your desired start date to internship@raciproject.org.
Are the internship programs offered year round?
Both the Bali and Flores Timur programs are year round; the Sulawesi program is a special offering available only in October & November 2011.
If you would like to apply for a program in 2012 please e-mail your request to internship@raciproject.org.
How long are the internship programs?
Interns join the Bali program on the first and fifteenth of every month for a duration of two to eight weeks.
The program in Flores Timur is two weeks in duration with start dates on the first and last Saturday of every month.
The Sulawesi program is currently only available during the months of October/November 2011; interns may join this program as desired during that time.
Is it possible to extend the duration of the internship program?
The program in Flores Timur is a full two weeks with an option to join the Bali program before, after or both.
The Bali and Sulawesi programs are a minimum of two weeks, extendable up to eight weeks so long as one week’s notice is provided. The Sulawesi program closes November 30, so please arrive early.
I’m accepted- now what?
Along with your acceptance letter, you will receive an Internship Handbook with specific information to help you prepare for your trip as well as what to expect when you arrive.
However, after reviewing the Internship Handbook you may have more questions about the program before you are ready to purchase your ticket to Indonesia. Depending on your preferance you can either contact us to arrange a Skype chat or post questions on our Facebook page, RACI Internship Program.
When you are ready, reconfirm your arrival date with us and purchase your roundtrip tickets. A 50% deposit towards your program cost will also be required at this time in order to confirm your space and process your letter of sponsorship for processing of your social visa.
Who should I contact to arrange for academic credit?
The necessary forms for academic credit will be arranged by your internship coordinator upon confirmation of your acceptance, official travel itinerary and deposit.
How long am I allowed to stay in Indonesia?
Since you will be sponsored directly through an NGO, this type of social visa only enables you to stay in Indonesia for sixty days.
Under special circumstance, such as an academic requirement for a long-term internship duration, we may accept interns for more than eight weeks. If your circumstances are such that you require a long-term internship please e-mail your request to internship@raciproject.org for consideration.
Must I book a return ticket?
Yes, a return ticket out of Indonesia is necessary to receive your social visa. However, this does not mean that you need to fly back home on your original ticket. Many of our interns stay in SE Asia a few extra weeks or longer to travel.
Do I need to bring my own computer?
Yes, all of the internship programs require that you bring your laptop.
Where will I stay during the internship program?
All of our internship programs offer comfortable accommodations.
Except during development field trips, interns in Bali live in a Balinese family home stay. Interns in Sulawesi will similarly experience the family hospitality of a traditional village home stay. Those joining the program in Flores Timur will enjoy beach bungalow accomodations with a coral reef on their doorstep.
